FENDER TELECASTER ARTIST - JIMMY PAGE
Think of Jimmy Page at his pomp with Led Zeppelin and you think of him onstage with a low slung Gibson Les Paul or twelve stringing through "Stairway To Heaven" with a Gibson EDS-1275 Double Neck.
But Led Zeppelin's debut album (see below), along with the solo from "Stairway To Heaven", was recorded with a Fender Telecaster that was a gift from his Yardbirds band mate Jeff Beck and a Supro amp. Widely reported as a 1958 model according to Beck it's a later '59 or 1960 model, as it's got a rosewood fingerboard and rosewood wasn't introduced on Telecasters 'till late 1959 this is more than likely the case, though could even be from 1961. It was also used on the early Led Zeppelin tours (1968-69) and in his Yarbird years previuosly.
In the latter years of Led Zeppelin Page also used a couple more Telecasters.
"The Brown Bomber" a Botswana brown Telecaster that was the hybrid of a '59 body and a '58 neck fitted with the Parsons/White B-String Bender system.
It first appeared in 1977 but was mainly used on the tracks Hot Dog and All My Love on the group's final tour in 1980.
A cream 1966 Fender Telecaster was also used for All My Love on that final tour.
